BIOGRAPHY:
Few field hockey players had a knack for scoring dramatic goals like Rochelle Low during a wildly successful five seasons at the University of Victoria.
Playing forward with the Vikettes from 1987 to 1990 and a final season in 1992, Low won Canada West gold in each year she played and was part of three national championship teams (1987, 1989 and 1992). She was also a multi-time CIAU championship tournament all-star.
Low was a CIAU and Canada West All-Star in all five of her seasons, and received All-Canadian honours four times, twice on the First Team (1990, 1992) and twice on the Second Team (1988, 1989). She book-ended her career by being named CIAU Rookie of the Year in 1987, and receiving the Liz Hoffman Award as CIAU Player of the Year in 1992. Her scoring ability was evidenced when she scored 12 times to lead Canada West by a wide margin in 1990.
The native of Vancouver played for Canada from 1989 to 1994, was a member of the 1992 Olympic team at the Summer Games in Barcelona. She also competed internationally at the Field Hockey World Cup, World Student Games and Pan American Games.
Low is a member of the UVic Sports Hall of Fame, inducted in 2005.
