BIOGRAPHY:
Lisa Harvey led the Calgary Dinos cross-country team to back-to-back CIAU championships in 1992 and 1993, capturing individual gold each year as well.
In addition to helping Dinos capture the first two national titles in program history, Harvey was part of a Canada West championship-winning performance by the Dinos in 1992.
Harvey was named the University of Calgary’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1993. In 2006, she was selected to the list of the Top 40 Calgary Dinos athletes, which was compiled to commemorate the university’s 40th year.
At age 21, Harvey won silver in the 10,000-metre race at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. The following summer, she represented Canada, running the 10,000-metre event at the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. Her lengthy international career also included three appearances at the IAAF World Track and Field Championships, and eight trips to the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.
Following her international career, Harvey continued to compete at a high level in marathon and distance races. She has worked as a physical education teacher in Calgary.
