ABOUT

1919-20MHKYheadline.png

For the last century, organized university sport has been a central part of the student experience at institutions across Western Canada. Beginning with the University of Manitoba capturing the first Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (WCIAU) men's hockey banner in 1919-20, student-athletes have been competing to reach their full potential in sport and the classroom, while enriching campus life.

To commemorate 100 years of university sport across Western Canada, the Canada West Hall of Fame was created in the spring of 2019, with the first induction class unveiled throughout the 2019-20 season.

The 2020-21 season marks our second Hall of Fame class, as we build on the excitement of last season and open the next century of university sport in Western Canada.

SELECTION PROCESS

Canada West members are responsible for nominating their most deserving student-athletes, coaches, teams, and administrators for the Canada West Hall of Fame on an annual basis. Members are permitted to nominate a maximum of two individuals, or teams in each sport annually, along with two additional open nominations.

Nominees are permitted to remain on the Hall of Fame ballot for multiple years, until members opt to make new nominations.

The CW Hall of Fame class is selected annually based on voting by the selection committee listed below.

HALL OF FAME COMMITTEE

A dedicated group of Canada West staff, members, and outside experts are part of the CW Hall of Fame Committee. The committee is responsible for supporting the Hall of Fame in a variety of ways, including adjudicating nominations, and ultimately selecting inductees.
